JEE Advanced serves as the second stage of entrance for admissions to IITs, IISc, IIESTs, and IISERs, accessible to candidates who qualify in JEE Main. Only the top 2,50,000 successful candidates of JEE Main are eligible for this exam. Conducted by the seven zonal IITs, JEE Advanced consists of two objective online papers with equal weightage given to Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The exam typically takes place in the third week of May annually.

Regarding the JEE Advanced exam, candidates ranking within 250,000 in JEE Main qualify to take the JEE Advanced. JEE Main is conducted twice a year, while JEE Advanced is conducted once a year.

Admission to various institutes such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs is facilitated through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) based on All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Advanced (for IITs) or JEE Main (for NITs and GFTIs). Additionally, candidates must meet specific criteria, such as securing at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination or being in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by their respective boards.
