NEET - UG (Medical)

The Central Government has established the National Testing Agency (NTA) to administer entrance examinations for admission and fellowship to higher educational institutions. NTA's responsibilities primarily revolve around conducting the NEET (UG) entrance test, declaring results, and providing All India Ranks to relevant authorities for counseling and admission procedures.

NTA facilitates the counseling process for 15% All India Quota Seats and all seats in Deemed Universities, Central Universities, ESIC, AFMC, including prestigious institutions like Delhi University (DU), BHU, and AMU. Additionally, NTA shares results with State Counseling Authorities and admitting institutions.

Admission to all seats of MBBS/BDS programs is exclusively through NEET (UG). Various quotas determine seat allocations, including:

  • All India Quota Seats
  • State Government Quota Seats
  • Central Institutions/Universities/Deemed Universities
  • Central Pool Quota Seats
  • State/Management/NRI Quota seats in Private Medical/Dental Colleges or any Private University

NEET (UG) is typically conducted in the first week of May, with a test duration of 3 hours. The examination format consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology). The distribution of MCQs and marks for each subject is as follows:

  • Physics: 45 MCQs (Section A - 35, Section B - 15), totaling 180 marks
